Lemmy was, and still is one of the most recognisable silhouettes in Rock ‘n’ Roll. Universally loved, revered throughout rock as an influence on music and lifestyle still to this day. It said that Ace Of Spades united genres, but Lemmy always said “we are Motorhead, and we play Rock ‘n’ Roll. Was this the key to his influence and likeability within the field? Yes, but not exclusively in my opinion. He, like others who have gained the same reverence, was just a down to Earth guy. I firmly believe this was the key.
So many musicians have wonderful stories about Lemmy, meeting Lemmy, wisdom Lemmy imparted to them over a drink and whatever else whilst on tour or during a chance meeting. Meetings that were not so much y chance as due to the fact he could be found having a quiet drink either at The Rainbow or The Ship opposite the Marquee in London.
Sometimes all it takes is to be yourself, and if yourself is kind and unpretentious then in the Music Industry you are going to stand out. RIP Lemmy.
